MANILA, Philippines–First, there was the e-burol (online funeral wake), followed by the e-dalaw (online jail visit).

Now, the stage is set for “e-graduation.’’

The Taguig City government has launched an online service allowing family members and friends of graduating students to witness the commencement exercises without having to be physically present at the venue.

“We are introducing this innovation so that friends and family members who will not be able to join our students during graduation can watch the ceremonies online,” Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano said in a statement Wednesday.

The video streaming service will start on March 27 at 6 a.m., beginning with the graduation ceremonies of  Signal Village Elementary School.

The live video feeds will be available to viewers in the Philippines and abroad.

City government spokesperson Darwin Icay said “we can guarantee that the e-graduation will not suffer from any technical glitches. We are already looking for ways to improve the live streaming service for next year,” he added. Nathaniel R. Melican
