MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has given more than P4 million in aid to places that were damaged by Severe Tropical Storm “Florita” (international name: Ma-on).
In a statement, the DSWD said that as of Thursday, the agency delivered more than P4.4 million worth of food and non-food items to the affected areas.
Most of the assistance worth P3.1 million was delivered to the Cagayan Valley region, while the rest were sent to the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
The DSWD added that it is also assisting local government units in monitoring the condition of 669 families or 2,057 persons now taking temporary shelter in 36 evacuation centers in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Metro Manila and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Three persons were reported dead while four were injured due to “Florita,” according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
“Florita” exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday, said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
