3 reported dead, 4 injured after ‘Florita’ whips Luzon – NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines — Three persons were reported dead by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Thursday, along with four injuries due to the onslaught of severe tropical storm “Florita.”
In its latest situational report, the NDRRMC said the three deaths were from the Bicol region, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Meanwhile, three injuries were reported in Cagayan Valley and one in Camarines Sur.
However, the NDRRMC clarified that the reported death in Bicol Region and the reported injury in Camarines was still being verified.
On the other hand, the number of families affected by the storm jumped to 11,593, or 47,169 individuals in five regions (Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, CAR, Calabarzon, Metro Manila).
A total of 10,355 individuals have also been displaced, most of which are inside 129 evacuation centers.
Twenty-six houses were partially damaged, while four were totally damaged, the NDRRMC added.
Meanwhile, the NDRRMC also noted that P4,8567,078.48 worth of assistance has already been distributed to affected families and individuals, which included family kits, hygiene kits, food packs, and tents.
The Department of Agriculture, meantime, initially pegged damage to the agriculture sector at P3 million.
“Florita” exited the Philippine area of responsibility on Wednesday morning.
