DOH: 3,580 new COVID infections; active cases at 30,240

MANILA, Philippines — An additional 3,580 infections of COVID-19 were registered by the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday, with active cases decreasing to 30,240.

With this, the country’s total caseload is now at 3,864,034 nationwide, with 3,772,218 recoveries and 61,476 deaths, based on the DOH COVID-19 tracker.

The new cases, meanwhile, are higher than the infections recorded on Tuesday, which was at 1,735, and the average number of cases recorded from August 15 to August 21 at 3,412.

The COVID-19 tracker also showed that Metro Manila still had the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 13,256 cases, followed by Calabarzon at 7,404, then Central Luzon at 4,382.

On the other hand, Quezon City has the highest reported cases in the last two weeks at 3,044, followed by Cavite, which recorded 2,581, and Laguna at 1,978.

Meanwhile, the tracker showed that 21,794 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday, reflecting the number of recorded infections on Thursday.
