Fake COVID-19 vax cards sold to bar workers in Pampanga

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — The fake COVID-19 vaccination cards that the Angeles city government intercepted from a city hall employee were sold to female workers in entertainment bars in the red light district on Fields Avenue, the INQUIRER confirmed with an official.

The cards for primary and booster shots were peddled at P1,000 each, according to Irish Calaguas, the chief consultant for Mayor Camelo Lazatin Jr., in a phone interview on Wednesday, August 24.

Workers sought the vaccination cards as these were required when they undergo pap smear tests, she said. Foreigners are frequent guests in night clubs here.

The city employee is being held in police custody following a complaint filed by the Gender and Development Office, which handles the COVID-19 database center.

The suspect had 13 fake cards when she was inspected. Lazatin ordered the database center to verify the authenticity of all the vaccine cards of the employees at Fields Avenue. INQ
