MANILA, Philippines — Two national highways in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) remain impassable in the aftermath of the Severe Tropical Storm Florita (international name: Ma-on), the Department of Public Works and Highways said on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, the DPWH said Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road and the Mt. Province- Ilocos Sur via Tue Road was closed due to soil collapse and rockslides, respectively.
Meanwhile, Luna-Bangar Road in La Union also remained impassable due to floods.
The agency’s quick response team has put up barricades and warning signs in the affected areas and advised motorists to pass with extreme caution if necessary to travel.
“Florita” is now out of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), but 11 areas in the country are still under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said. — Catherine E.
