LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — Classess at all levels and work in government agencies in this province were suspended on Tuesday (Aug. 23) due to the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm “Florita,” according to Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc.
In an announcement, Manotoc said exempted from the work suspension are first responders during calamities, such as medical and rescue teams.
The class suspension, meanwhile, would cover both public and private schools, said Manotoc.
Ilocos Norte is currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2, according to the latest weather bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
According to Pagasa’s forecast, Ilocos Norte, and the rest of the Ilocos region, would experience heavy to intense, at times torrential rains, on Tuesday brought by the tropical storm. INQ
