Magnitude 4.1 earthquake hits Batangas

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.2 earthquake shook Batangas on Monday night, said the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (Phivolcs).

According to Phivolcs, the epicenter of the quake was located 4 kilometers northeast of Tingloy, Batangas.

This aftershock was tectonic in origin and was recorded at exactly 10:59 p.m. with a depth of 11 kilometers.

  • Intensity III – Tagaytay City; Malvar, Batangas
  • Intensity II- Tanauan City, Batangas

Meanwhile, instrumental intensities were also recorded in the following areas:

  • Intensity III – Batangas City, Batangas
  • Intensity II – Tagaytay City; Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro
  • Intensity I – Calatagan, Batangas; Magallanes, Cavite; San Pablo, Laguna; Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro

Phivolcs assured that this earthquake was not expected to cause damage or aftershock.
