MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) off northern Luzon may intensify into a tropical cyclone in the coming days, but is not currently affecting any parts of country which will experience fair weather on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The LPA was located 980 kilometers east of northern Luzon, according to Pagasa’s weather forecast released on Saturday.

“Itong low pressure area, bagamat wala siyang direktang epekto sa ating bansa, patuloy pa rin natin siyang imo-monitor dahil may tiyansa na maging bagyo sa mga susunod na araw,” said Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres.

(This low pressure area, while not having a direct effect in the country, will be monitored continuously since there is a chance that it may become a typhoon in the coming days.)

Torres added that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon and evening.

Meanwhile, no gale warnings were raised by the Pagasa on any seaboards nationwide.
