The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has spotted a low-pressure area (LPA) that may turn into a tropical depression in the coming days.

As of 4 p.m. Friday, the LPA was spotted 1,210 kilometers east of Central Luzon. The LPA’s trough is causing scattered rain and thunderstorms in the Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions, said Raymond Ordinario, weather specialist of Pagasa.

The southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” will also enhance the LPA and cause cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in the Calabarzon and Mimaropa regions.
