With the in-person classes set to begin on Monday, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will be giving P500 million as financial assistance to indigent students who need school supplies, clothes, shoes, and other needs.
Speaking during Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles’ briefing at Malacañang on Thursday, Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo said up to three students per indigent family will be given cash aid worth P1,000 for elementary student, P2,000 for high school, P3,000 for senior high school, and P4,000 for a tertiary student enrolled in a college or technical-vocational school.
The financial assistance will be available in the DSWD central, regional, provincial, and other local office starting on Saturday and every Saturday until September 24.
Tulfo said he instructed DWSD offices to be open every Saturday to receive applicants for the assistance. —JEROME ANING
