MANILA, Philippines — More lawmakers were elected to key posts in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, including former Speaker Lord Allan Velasco who will now lead the House energy panel.
Velasco and three other representatives were named to their new posts in the lower chamber during the plenary session.
The House majority also elected three other congressmen as committee chairpersons. They are: Pangasinan Rep. Ma. Rachel Arenas as chair of the foreign affairs committee; Batanes Rep. Ciriaco Gato Jr. as health committee chair; and Navotas Rep. Tobias Tiangco as information and communication technology panel chair.
During the plenary session, Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo also took her oath as senior deputy speaker.
