MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit Surigao del Norte on Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor hit 2 kilometers southwest of Socorro, Surigao del Norte, at 5:35 p.m.
An instrumental intensity I was felt in Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte and in Surigao City in Surigao del Norte.
The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 129 km.
No damage or aftershocks are expected from the earthquake, Phivolcs said.
