MANILA, Philippines — An alleged American pedophile who worked as a Sunday school teacher was arrested in Las Piñas City over the weekend, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said in a statement on Tuesday.

The suspect, identified as Tye Braxton Stiger, 35, was arrested by the bureau’s operatives in Diego Cera Avenue, Las Piñas City on Saturday.

BI made the arrest after receiving information from US authorities about Stiger’s crimes.

Stiger has an outstanding warrant of arrest issued by the State of Michigan in July 2022 for 35 counts of child pornography-related charges, among other offenses.

BI said the suspect volunteered as a Sunday school teacher in church communities in Michigan, where he was alleged to have preyed on minor victims for six years.

“Over a dozen videos of him placing hidden cameras at various locations to record minor children was said to have been seized by authorities,” the BI said.

BI officer-in-charge Commissioner Rogelio Gevero, Jr. said arresting fugitives has always been a priority, especially after Justice Secretary Remulla called for monitoring foreign pedophiles to ensure their rapid capture and deportation.

“Getting another predator off our streets means we are protecting our kababayan (countrymen) from harm,” Gevero said.
