DOH records 1,011 more cases of BA.5 Omicron subvariant

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported 1,011 additional cases of the BA.5 COVID-19 subvariant of Omicron.

According to the DOH released data, all regions, except the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, have at least one individual who tested positive for the said Omicron subvariant.

“At the moment, the exposure of individuals, travel histories and health status are being verified,” said the DOH.

With these new infections, the current total number of recorded BA.5 cases is now at 5,214.

Meanwhile, 907 of these cases have been marked as recoveries, 53 are being isolated, and the remainder are being validated.

Two, on the other hand, have been recorded to have died.

As many as 690 were immunized, 12 were partially vaccinated, and three were not vaccinated. The rest are being screened for vaccinations.

DOH also found 19 BA.4 omicron subvariant instances.

This brought the total recorded BA.4 cases to 168.

It said 15 recovered, three isolated, and one died.
