Active COVID-19 cases in Zambales breach 100-mark

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—The number of active COVID-19 cases in this province breached the 100-mark after a surge on Monday, local health data showed.

At least 23 new infections raised the province’s latest active COVID-19 cases to 102, the Provincial Health Office said.

A virus-infected patient had also died, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in the province to 706 since 2020. The 12,148 cases recorded since the pandemic began represented a 5.8-percent mortality rate.

Data showed that 13 towns have at least two active infections.

With 19 cases, Subic town registered the highest number of active infections as of Monday, followed by Castillejos town, which has 16. INQ
