Bicol gets new top cop

LIGAO CITY — Police Brigadier General Rudolph Botengan Dimas assumed his post as the new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Bicol in a ceremony Sunday, August 14, at Camp General Simeon Ola in Legazpi City, Albay province.

Dimas, a native of Besao town in Mountain Province and a member of PNP Academy “Tagapagpatupad” Class of 1992, replaced Police Brigadier General Mario Reyes.

Prior to his new assignment as Bicol police director, he was the director of Camarines Norte police from November 2015 to October 2017.

On April 28, 2021, he was installed as the PNP anti-kidnapping group chief.

In his message during the ceremony, he accentuated the fundamental duties of the PNP.

“As simply put by our CPNP (chief PNP), our jobs as law enforcers are to prevent crime (operations), pre-empt crime (intelligence), solve crime (investigation), and organize and mobilize the community (community relations). And let us always put to mind and live out his peace and security program, entitled: MKKK – Malasakit (compassion) + Kaayusan (order) + Kapayapaan (peace) = Kaunlaran (progress),” Dimas stressed.

He also sought the support of the 11,428-strong police force in Bicol in order to “deliver the best quality police services to the community.”
