MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila decreased for the first time during the recent uptick, said Octa fellow Guido David on Sunday, showing signs that infections may have already peaked.

This new rate as of August 12 was lower compared to the previous week’s 17.5 percent. However, it is still much higher than the World Health Organization’s ideal threshold of 5 percent.

“This is the first time in the current wave the weekly positivity rate decreased, and it gives us optimism that cases in the NCR may have already peaked,” said David in a report posted on Twitter.
