MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.4 earthquake rocked Leyte on Saturday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The quake was recorded at 6:46 am and its epicenter was located 13 kilometers northwest of Merida, Leyte, said Phivolcs.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 10 kilometers, state seismologists said.
No aftershocks and damage are expected, Phivolcs said.
Phivolcs reported the following Intensities in these areas:
Intensity IV – Merida, Ormoc City, and Isabel, Leyte
Intensity III – Palompon, Matag-ob, Villaba, and Kananga, Leyte
Intensity II – Albuera, Capoocan, Carigara, and Tabango, Leyte
Intensity 1- Calubian, Leyte
