MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and the rest of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible rain showers and thunderstorms on Saturday due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat” and localized thunderstorms even as a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of  possible flash floods or landslides in rain-affected areas.

It did not issue a gale warning over any part of the country for Saturday.

“Sa labas naman ng ating PAR ay mayroon pa tayong namataan na low pressure area, and as of three in the morning ay nasa 1,265 kilometers ito sa silangan ng Mindanao. Possible po na within the next 24 hours ay unti-unti itong lalapit sa PAR hanggang sa makapasok po around tomorrow morning. Pero bago po ito tumama sa ating kalupaan sa Visayas at Mindanao, ay posibleng malusaw na ito sa karagatan” said Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estreja in the bureau’s public weather forecast.
