The Lapu-Lapu police are tracking down the businesses left by the slain couple in Lapu-Lapu City.
Senior Supt. Anthony Obenza, director of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, said investigators are conducting an inventory of the videoke machines, taxi units and jeepneys owned by Fernando Canillo and his live-in partner Emma Beronguis.
Canillo and Beronguis and their three-year-old son were shot dead inside their house in barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City early this month.
Fernando’s two children aged six and four years old survived the attack, while Emma’s younger brother, Ric-ric, 17, is still recuperating in a hospital in Cebu City.
According to the police, Canillo was a former member of the Kuratong Baleleng gang.
One of the four gunmen were identified by three witnesses as Ricky Cadavero.
No arrest has been made yet.
Obenza said some people who rented the videoke machines, taxis or jeepneys may think that they already own these units following the deaths of the couple.
“Dili mana mahimo nga maila kay duna gud nay mga anak (They can’t own these units because the couple have children),” said Obenza during the weekly program Police Line-up last Saturday afternoon.
Obenza said some parts of the jeepneys owned by the couple are already missing.
Obenza said Canillo’s legal wife Alona tried to claim the land titles found in the house of the couple.
The land titles, however, were not released to Alona after it was found out that the titles were under the name of Emma’s sister, said Obenza.
