BRITISH, GF NABBED FOR ‘ECSTACY’

A BRITISH national and his Filipina girlfriend who were allegedly involved in selling a “high-end” drug called “Ecstacy” were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Mandaue City at dawn yesterday.

The arrest took place inside the International Bar Complex in barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue.

Kevin Felix Heins Andrew Tauber, 58, and Anna Morena Manas, 28, were arrested by operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group shortly after they allegedly sold an “Ecstacy” tablet worth P1,000 to a poseur buyer.

When arrested, Tauber yielded three packs of suspected shabu while two sachets believed to contain “Ecstacy” pills were recovered from Manas, said police.

The couple, who live in barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City, have been under surveillance for a month before the arrest, said Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, director of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO).

Gillamac said the management of the bar will be asked to explain why an illegal drug transaction was able to find its way into the establishment.

PAINTER ARRESTED IN BARILI RAID

POLICE arrested a painter who allegedly had a gun hidden in his house in barangay Poblacion, Barili town, southwest Cebu.

Cristituto Alvarado, 40, denied owning the .357 revolver with nine bullets that was allegedly found in his home by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) on Friday night.

A search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Silvestre Maamo Jr. was presented  in the raid.

Police said the raid was made following reports that Alvarado was seen brandishing a firearm.

Alvarado denied the allegations against him.

In Consolacion town, northern Cebu, a man was arrested after several ampules of Nubain were found in his house.

Niño Semblante was arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7), who allegedy recovered 10 ampules of Nubain in the man’s home in barangay Polpogan.
