Four-day fire in Caloocan mall put out, finally
MANILA, Philippines — After almost four days, the fire in a mall in Caloocan City was finally put out Tuesday, a fire marshal from the Caloocan fire station said.
Superintendent Oscar de Asis, said the fire that had been raging at the five-story Ever Gotesco Grand Central Mall in Caloocan City since Friday evening, was completely put out at 7:25 a.m.
The blaze reached Task Force Delta at 5: 40 a.m. Saturday before it was declared under control at 11:59 p.m. later that day.
Senior Fire Officer 2 Ruel Dacanay said firefighters had difficulty putting out the fire due to the thick smoke and intense heat inside the establishment.
No other information as to what really cause the fire was available as of posting time, but reports said the blaze may have started from the ceiling of a shoe store.
The total cost of damages will likewise be determined after a post-fire investigation, Dacanay said.
