Murder suspect falls

One of the suspects in last year’s  murder of a woman in barangay Toong, Cebu City,  was arrested by police yesterday morning.

Efren Sabal, 46, was arrested by the Cebu City Public Safety Company led by SPO2 Rodrigo Deviraforda.

Sabal and his co-accused Willy Sabella are facing charges for the killing of Vivencia Bacalso and wounding of her daughter Angel Bacalso Tabas and their male neighbor last Aug. 20, 2011. The case is pending in the Cebu Regional Trial Court.

Police found an unlicensed .45 pistol n Sabal’s possession. Sabal denied  the charges.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-7) arrested two persons who are wanted in Bohol and Samar provinces.

Police  arrested Jovencio Basilan Jr., 46, alias Vivencio Asila of Palo, Leyte, on March 15.

The Department of Interior and Local Government earlier  placed a  P140,000 bounty for the capture of Basilan who is facing murder charges.

Daniel Vergas, who is wanted for crimes in Bohol, was arrested in in Pasay City last March 17, said Supt. Romano Cardiño, CIDG-7 Central Visayas deputy chief.
