Arcilla, Patrimonio win in Davao net

THE COUNTRY’S no.1 netters Johnny Arcilla and Clarice Patrimonio ruled the men’s and women’s singles events of the 2nd Mayor “Inday” Sara Duterte National Men and Women Invitational Tennis Championship last Sunday in Davao City.

Cebuanos Sally Mae Siso and Israel “RJ” Abarquez may failed to bring home any title.

Siso, who is playing only in her second women’s tournament, bowed to Patrimonio, 3-6, 0-6.

In the mixed doubles, Siso and her partner no.2 Elbert Anasta also exited in the first round after losing to the tandem of no. 3 Patrick John Tierro and no. 5 Macy Gonzales, 2-6, 6-3, 4-6.

The mixed doubles title eventually went to the pair of no.4 Ralph Kevin Barte and Patrimonio.

In the women’s doubles, Siso and her partner no.2 Marinel Rudas reached the finals but eventually lost the title to the duo of no.6 Macy Solon and no.3 Aileen Rogan.

Abarquez, on the other hand, was also eliminated in the first round of his singles match against Tierro.

He and his partner no.4 Alyssa Labay also exited the mixed doubles in the first round after losing to the pair of Arcilla and no.8 Nikki Arandia.

In the men’s doubles, Abarquez and his partner Tierro reached the semifinals but were defeated by Arcilla and no.6 Macmac Alcoseba. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
