LPA dissipates, but parts of Luzon expected to get some rain
MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) detected near Mindanao has dissipated, but overcast skies and rains are still expected over parts of the country on Wednesday due to southwest monsoon, or habagat, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its Tuesday’s weather advisory.
The LPA was last spotted 280 kilometers east of Davao City.
Expected to have cloudy skies, isolated rain showers, and thunderstorms are the Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Northern Palawan, and Kalayaan Islands.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country are expected to have fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Pagasa raised a gale warning on the seaboards of Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, the western coast of Ilocos Norte, Bataan, Lubang Island, and the western coast of Palawan including Kalayaan Islands.
Those areas will have gale force winds associated with the habagat, bringing rough to very rough seas with 2.8 to 4.5 meters of waves.
Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture into the sea while large sea vessels are alerted against big waves.
