Senate adopts resolution commending IBO flyweight champ Dave Apolinario
MANILA, Philippines — The Senate adopted on Monday a resolution commending and congratulating Dave “Dobermann” Apolinario for bagging the International Boxing Organization (IBO) flyweight title.
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go — chair of the Senate committee on sports — introduced Senate Resolution No. 84 and sponsored it in the plenary session.
“His remarkable win paved the way for claiming his first world title after he captured the IBO Flyweight Title and improving his unbeaten boxing record of 17 wins, 0 defeats, with 12 knockouts,” Go said during his sponsorship speech.

“The 23-year-old from Sarangani Province has proved to be an indomitable boxer, as he is now recognized as one of the most promising fighters our country has produced, and to represent the country in future international boxing competitions,” he added.
Article continues after this advertisementGo said that he would pursue the promotion and advancement of their “long-term commitment” to enhance the sports programs in the country.

The senator assured athletes that their efforts would be inscribed in the country’s sports history.
“To our athletes, the glory and honor you have given to this country will be forever etched in Philippine sports history. As you have become pillars of strength and great sources of inspiration to our fellow countrymen that continue to give us hope in the face of adversity,” said Go.
He continued: “Each and every one of you has proven time and again your undying devotion to our country’s cause.”
Last July 29, Apolinario knocked out South African Gideon Buthelezi in the first round, ending the Philippines’ world title drought in boxing.
