MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) will bring rain over parts of Mindanao on Tuesday, while the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” will continue to affect parts of Luzon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said in a weather report late Monday afternoon, the LPA was last spotted 530 kilometers east of Davao City.

“Sa ngayon medyo maliit pa ang tiyansa na maging bagyo, pero ang kaulapan na ito ay nagdadala ng maulan na kalangitan sa Caraga at sa Davao Region,” said Badrina.

(Right now there is little chance of becoming a typhoon, but this cloud brings rainy skies to Caraga and the Davao Region.)

Meanwhile, Badrina said the southwest monsoon will also continue to bring rain over several parts of Luzon.

“Makikita natin itong kanlurang bahagi ng Luzon itong Ilocos region, Bataan, Zambales, at Palawan gayundin ang Mindoro ay posible pa rin magkaroon ng maulap na kalangitan na may mga kalat kalat na pagulan pagkidlat pagkulog,” said Badrina.

(We can see that in the western part of Luzon, the Ilocos region, Bataan, Zambales, and Palawan as well as Mindoro, it is still possible to have a cloudy sky with scattered showers, lightning and thunder.)

Improving weather, meanwhile, is forecast over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of Mindanao, as well as the entire Visayas, on the other hand, will also experience relatively fairer weather but chances of rain and thunderstorms still remain.

Gale warning is raised over the seaboards of Pangasinan, Zambales, and the western coast of Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, as rough to very rough sea conditions are expected over this area.

The state weather service said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Tuesday will be:
