SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The weekly COVID-19 positivity in this province continued to be tagged as “very high,” independent analytics group OCTA research said Monday, Aug. 8.
Citing data from the Department of Health from July 30 to Aug. 6, OCTA said the COVID-19 positive rate in Zambales rose from 27.1 percent to 28.6 percent.
OCTA said the province’s positive rate was “very high” as it remained above 20 percent.
Aside from Zambales, the Central Luzon provinces of Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Tarlac posted a similar very high virus positivity rate, which refers to the percentage of tests turning out positive.
As of Sunday, Zambales’ number of active COVID-19 cases reached 106 after logging 10 new infections, data from the provincial health office showed.
Since 2020, the province has registered 12,031 COVID-19 cases. Its number of recoveries stood at 11,222, while its death toll related to the disease was at 703. INQ
