MANILA, Philippines — The combined effects of a low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon (habagat) will bring overcast skies and scattered rain showers to several parts of the Luzon, including Metro Manila on Sunday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Combined effects po ng habagat at LPA ang magdadala ng pagulan kaya within 24 hours makakaranas po tayo ng makulimlim na panahon na may kalat kalat na pagulan at pagkidlat pagkulog sa Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa at Bicol region,” said Pagasa weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin.
(The combined effects of the southwest monsoon and LPA will bring rain, so within 24 hours we will experience cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) and Bicol region.)
Bulquerin said the LPA was last spotted some 406 kilometers west of Dagupan City.
He added that the entire Visayas and the Zamboanga Peninsula in Mindanao, will likewise experience cloudy skies and scattered rain showers due to the southwest monsoon.
The rest of Luzon and Mindanao, meanwhile, will experience generally fair weather but still with possible isolated rain showers.
No gale warning was raised by Pagasa, as only slight to moderate sea conditions are expected nationwide.
