Money problems lead mechanic to kill self
His desperation over financial problems he was facing apparently drove a car mechanic to hang himself inside his rented apartment in Manila on Monday.
The body of Harriz Wariza, 39, a resident of Arellano Avenue in Singalong, Malate, was found hanging from an iron grill by a nylon cord looped around his neck. Police Officer 3 Bernardo Cayabyab of the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section said that the victim’s body was found by his wife, Donna, at around 4 a.m. Monday.
Donna immediately sought the help of her brother-in-law Gilbert, who lived nearby, but their efforts failed to save the victim. Cayabyab said that according to Gilbert, his brother had been complaining about his financial problems and his failure to make both ends meet, a situation that might have driven him to kill himself.—Jeannette I.
