Lawyer Monalisa Dimalanta appointed as ERC chair

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos has appointed lawyer Monalisa Dimalanta as the new chief of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), the Palace announced Friday.

In a letter addressed to Dimalanta dated August 1, a copy of which was shared to the media on Friday, the Office of the President said her term would expire on July 10, 2029.

“The President has appointed Atty. Monalisa Dimalanta as chairperson of the Energy Regulatory Commission. She is an alumna of the University of the Philippines and was former chief legal counsel and compliance officer of Aboitiz Power Corporation,” Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said in a statement.

Dimalanta replaced former ERC chairperson Agnes Devanadera who retired on July 10.

Dimalanta served as chair of the National Renewable Energy Board, which has been aiding the Department of Energy in the renewable energy sector, from 2019 to 2021.

According to her Linkedin account, Dimalanta is also currently a professor at the Ateneo School of Government.
