MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—The seven provinces and two highly urbanized cities in Central Luzon registered 2,708 new COVID-19 cases in a week, data from the regional health agency showed.
In its latest COVID-19 cases bulletin released on Friday, August 5, the Central Luzon Center for Health Development also showed that 42 patients died from July 26 to August 1.
Bulacan registered the highest number of new cases at 717, followed by Pampanga with 657 and Bataan with 400.
The other provinces and highly urbanized cities in the region include Nueva Ecija, which registered 339, Tarlac (261), Angeles City (133), Zambales (109), Olongapo City (76), and Aurora (16).
The CLCHD said the region had 3,828 active COVID-19 cases as of August 1.
It said that at the end of July, 28 of the 33 laboratories in the region tested 1,031 suspected COVID-19 cases. It said 172, or 16.7 percent, tested positive for coronavirus.
