Active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo jump to 68

The number of active COVID-19 cases in this city rose to 68 after recording 20 new infections, local data showed on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

OLONGAPO CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in this city rose to 68 after recording 20 new infections, local data showed on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

Based on the records from the local COVID-19 task force, the new cases were among the highest in recent weeks.

The youngest among the newly infected patients were a 6-month-old boy and a 2-year-old boy from Barangay Gordon Heights, and a 4-year-old boy from Barangay Barretto.

Data also showed that the city recorded 10 new recoveries related to the viral disease.

At least 25 suspected COVID-19 cases were also being monitored here.

Since the pandemic broke out in 2020, the city has already recorded 7,182 cases. Of this figure, 6,760 were recoveries, while 354 were deaths.
