MANILA, Philippines — Several areas in the country, including Metro Manila and the Visayas, can expect sporadic rains on Friday brought by a low-pressure area (LPA), the state weather bureau said.
In a late afternoon forecast on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) noted that the LPA was last plotted 170 kilometers east of Legazpi City in Albay.
Aside from Metro Manila and the Visayas, Pagasa weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said scattered rain would also persist in the following areas:
- Bicol Region – Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, Sorsogon
- Mimaropa – Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon
- Calabarzon – Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal
- Zamboanga Peninsula – Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay
“Ito ay dahil inaasahan natin na kikilos pakanluran itong LPA na ating binabantayan,” Ordinario said.
(This is because the LPA that we are tracking is expected to move westwards.)
The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, will enjoy fair weather with chances of isolated rain, Pagasa said.
