San Pablo village chief killed; suspected loan shark tagged

CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Laguna, Philippines — A village chairman in San Pablo City Laguna was shot dead in his farm Monday morning, the police said.

Ramil Enobio, chairman of Barangay (village) III-C, died of a single gunshot wound in his face, said Superintendent Ferdinand de Castro, city police chief.

De Castro said police have been hunting down a certain Christopher Arrogancia who happened to be an acquaintance of the victim.

De Castro said several witnesses saw Arrogancia and Enobio talking at the latter’s farm in Barangay San Jose Malamig at around 9:40 a.m. when Arrogancia suddenly drew his gun and shot Enobio.

Enobio died on the spot while the suspect immediately escaped on a motorcycle.

Arrogancia, a resident of Barangay San Jose Malamig, was known as a loan shark, the police said.
