Hello Kitty receives certificate of gratitude from Cabinet minister

TOKYO — Japan’s Internal Affairs and Communications Minister Yasushi Kaneko on Monday handed a certificate of gratitude to popular children’s character Hello Kitty for her contributions to raising awareness of the administrative counseling system, through which the central and local governments receive consultation requests and complaints related to their governance.

“Thank you for appearing in the posters for the administrative counseling system for 13 consecutive years,” Kaneko said to Hello Kitty.
