MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to bring rain over most parts of Luzon on Tuesday, according to the state weather bureau.
In its Tuesday morning public forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said overcast skies and scattered rain will persist in most of northern Luzon, including the Cordillera region, and some parts of Central Luzon.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will encounter fair weather with chances of rain in the latter part of the day, the state weather bureau also noted.
“Dito naman sa Metro Manila, maging sa nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, ine-expect natin ngayong araw na magiging bahagyang maulap hanggang maulap iyong kalangitan at pagsapit ng hapon o gabi, mas mataas na iyong tsansa ng mga pag-ulan, pagkulog at pagkidlat dulot pa rin iyan ng habagat at mga localized thunderstorm,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.
(Expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies in Metro Manila and the remaining parts of Luzon today. However, chances of rain showers, thunderstorms, and lightning will begin to escalate in the afternoon or evening.)
No LPA has been monitored, but Pagasa is keeping watch over cloud clusters in western Ilocos region.
According to Castañeda, fair weather with isolated rain will similarly prevail in Visayas and Mindanao.
Pagasa has not raised a gale warning over the country’s seaboards, indicating safe sailing conditions across the archipelago.
Meanwhile, it outlined the temperature range in the following cities and areas on Tuesday:
Metro Manila — 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
Baguio — 16 to 23 degrees Celsius
Laoag — 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao — 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
Legazpi — 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
Puerto Princesa — 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tagaytay — 22 to 30 degrees Celsius
Kalayaan Islands — 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Iloilo — 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
Cebu — 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tacloban — 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Cagayan de Oro — 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
Zamboanga — 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
Davao — 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
As per Pagasa’s latest weather advisory, light to moderate rains will affect parts of northern Luzon.
The southwest monsoon will bring occasional heavy rain and thunderstorm, affecting the regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, and the provinces of Aurora, Zambales and Bataan.
These areas may experience scattered flooding and landslides due to the rain.
Pagasa advised necessary risk reduction units to prepare and issue further local warnings within the day.
