MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has already released P445.66 million to pay Edsa Carousel bus operators and drivers for their services from the sixth to the 13th week of the Libreng Sakay (Free Ride) program of the government.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the LTFRB said it had already started processing the payment covering the 14th and 15th week.
It had also started coordinating with the consortia of public utility buses operating the EDSA Busway to begin processing of payments for the 16th week.
This developed after the driver and operators complained about not being paid, prompting the new LTFRB administration to promise that it would speed up processing of payment.
“LTFRB will continue to address issues and concerns with regard to the current public land transportation system in line with the mandates of the new administration to improve the lives of our operators and drivers and the commuting public,” LTFRB Chair Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil said.
