The gold standard in the country’s dancesport scene, the Dancesport Team Cebu City (DTCC), continued its winning ways as it racked up 14 gold medals, 13 silvers and 13 bronze medals during the 2012 Dancesport Council of the Philippines Inc. (DSCPI) 1st Quarter Ranking and Competition last Saturday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
DTCC Founder and Cebu City Sports Commission chairman Ed Hayco, said that in spite of the numerous accolades that the team gets year after year, it doesn’t get boring at all.
“It gets even better. Why? Because every year, we have hundreds of fresh new talent from the barangay grassroots program that are all eager to be part of a national event. And they are getting better and better each year,” said Hayco in an interview.
The young tandem of Gyle Nino Deluvio and Andreah Kiem Capangpangan raked in the most gold medals as they won three. They ruled the Latin Juvenile C and the Standard Juvenile A and C events. For good measure, the duo also grabbed a bronze medal in the Latin Juvenile A class.
There were also three pairs that got two golds each. These were Lark Jabonero and Mary Ann Ferrer, who won the Latin Special Event-Male and Special Event-Female; Filemon Baguio and Jhistine Baguio who reigned supreme in the Latin Junior C and Standard Junior C events, and finally, Rinzon Elarcosa and Reyana Mae Elarcosa, who grabbed wins in the Latin Youth A and Standard Youth C events.
The rest of the gold medal winners were John Paul Mocorro and Therese Quilaton (Latin Junior A), Jed Villaruel and Jennifer Amihan (Latin Grade A), Jimmy Noel and Elizabeth Zetz (Standard Senior C), Charlie Camacho and Marisse Santiago (Latin Senior C) and Jerswin Poloyapoy and Anne Poloyapoy (Standard Professional 5-Dance).
