MANILA, Philippines — A total 4,159 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, bringing the active tally to 33,722.
This also brought the DOH the country’s total caseload to 3,776,627 nationwide, with 3,682,278 recoveries and 60,727 deaths, based on the DOH’s COVID-19 Tracker on its website.
These new cases were almost double the average daily cases of 2,791 recorded from July 18 to 24.
Metro Manila with 14,107 cases also continued to be the region with the most infections in the last two weeks, followed by Calabarzon with 9,282 and by Central Luzon with 4,401.
Cavite with 3,186 cases also continued to top the list of areas with the most reported cases in the last two weeks, followed by Quezon City with 2,972 and Laguna with 2,511.
The tracker also showed that 20,282 individuals were recorded to have been tested for COVID-19 on Saturday. This will reflect the recorded infections on Monday.
