MANILA, Philippines — The number of individuals affected by the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that hit Abra is now at 314,161, said the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (NDRRMC) on Saturday.
According to NDRRMC’s latest situation report, this translated to 82,336 families. Individually, the total affected persons is almost 100,000 higher than the recorded number on Saturday, at 228,238.
The primer also showed that all affected populations are from the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Meanwhile, 10 people have been verified to have died due to the earthquake, with 375 injuries.
NDRRMC also reported that of the total affected, 1,113 families or 3,891 individuals are now inside 42 evacuation centers, while 7,422 families or 30,400 individuals are not in evacuation centers.
A total worth of P414,228,000 cost of damage were also reported on different infrastructures in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) earlier warned that aftershocks may occur for several days and even up to months.
As of 6:00 p.m., Saturday, Phivolcs said it has recorded 1,459 total aftershocks ranging from magnitude 1.4 to 5.0
