Capiz governor reminds public to be vigilant against dengue

Mosquito-borne disease dengue is now considered an outbreak in Occidental Mindoro province according to its governor

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Gov. Fredenil Castro has advised Capiznons to be vigilant as cases of dengue in the province continued to rise on Thursday.

Based on the data of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), the number of cases of the mosquito-borne disease has reached more than 396 from January to July 23, 2022.

Roxas City has reported 152 dengue cases followed by Jamindan (89 cases); Dao (25); Tapaz and Pontevedra (18); Sapian (11); Mambusao, Sigma, Cuartero, and Panay (10); Maayon (9); Ivisan (7); Dumalag, President Roxas, and Pilar (6); Dumarao (5); and Panit-an (4).

The youngest person who contracted dengue was 23 days old while the oldest was 77. Majority of those affected were between 10 and 19 years old.
