8 killed in mishap in Bukidnon
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—Eight persons, including a 3-year-old child, were killed, while 19 others were injured when a cargo truck lost its brakes and crashed into a small water spillway in Sitio (settlement) San Milan in Barangay (village) Salucot in Talakag, Bukidnon, at around 5 p.m. on Friday.
Chief Inspector Duphar Thris Cuaresma, Talakag police chief, said the truck was on its way to Cagayan de Oro City when the accident occurred.
He said the truck, driven by Timmy Besto, rolled over twice, causing its passengers to be thrown away, before it ditched.
“Most of the passengers were taking a hitch with the cargo truck as public transport seldom pass by the area,” Cuaresma said.—Cai Panlilio
