LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the Ilocos region said that they are prepared to extend assistance to residents affected by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that jolted many areas in Luzon Wednesday morning, July 27.
In an announcement, the regional DSWD said that over 17,410 family food packs and 9,291 non-food items were prepositioned at the satellite warehouses of the agency in the region. The family food packs amount to P10,331,882, while the non-food items amount to P23,532,092, the agency said.
The regional DSWD also said that it has at least P2,699,953 as a standby fund to be lifted from the agency’s quick response fund.
DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo was in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur province on Wednesday afternoon.
At least six million worth of assistance had been used so far to aid earthquake-hit residents in Abra, the earthquake’s epicenter, said Tulfo.
