Patients in Abra hospital hurt due to magnitude 7 quake

BAGUIO CITY—A number of patients in Abra Provincial Hospital suffered injuries after the 7-magnitude earthquake damaged the facility, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

The patients were evacuated from the hospital after the severe ground shaking.

The PDRRMO has yet to determine the number of injured patients, but falling objects hit most of them.

Retaining walls, bridges, houses, and other structures were also damaged by the powerful quake at 8:43 a.m. that struck the province and many parts of Luzon

The quake’s epicenter was located 3 kilometers west of Abra’s Tayum town. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 17 km, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. INQ
