MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday committed to the delivery of 30 million physical and 20 million digital National IDs by the end of 2022.
In his first State of the Nation Address (Sona), Marcos Jr. said his administration aims to accomplish the issuance of 92 million National IDs by 2023.
“For citizens to be able to seamlessly transact with the government, their identity must be easily verifiable. We expect to issue 30 million physical IDs and 20 million digital IDS by the end of this year,” he said in his speech at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.
“The target is to finish the issuance of 92 million IDS by the middle of next year,” he added.
