LUCENA CITY—Some 300 policemen from the Calabarzon region were deployed to help maintain peace and order during the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Brigadier General Gregory Bogñalbal, Police Regional Office 4-A director, led the send-off on Sunday night, July 24, for the Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) unit policemen.
The event was held at the PRO 4-A headquarters in Calamba, its public information office said Monday.
The 300 CDM members were from Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.
They will help the National Capital Region police secure peace during the SONA.
Earlier, Brigadier General Antonio Yarra, PRO 4-A chief, reminded the police about “respecting human rights and upholding the rule of law” in rallies and demonstrations during the SONA.
“Maximum tolerance shall be observed by the troops on the ground as long as the demonstrators abide by the existing policies and laws of the nation,” he stressed.
Yarra said the cops activated their border control points and strategic security control points to monitor people’s movement in and out of Metro Manila and Calabarzon. INQ
