LEGAZPI CITY — An alleged drug suspect was killed during a buy-bust operation in Nabua town in Camarines Sur province on Saturday night, July 23, a report said Sunday, July 24.
Camarines Sur police said in a report that Junnel Uvero, 30, sold a sachet of shabu (crystal meth) to an undercover agent in Barangay (village) La Purisima around 9:50 p.m.
Police said when the suspect sensed that he was transacting with a police officer, he drew his firearm tucked in his waist and fired, prompting the backup police to retaliate.
Uvero sustained bullet wounds and died while being taken to a hospital.
Police recovered a handgun of undetermined caliber loaded with five live bullets and misfired ammunition and another five sachets of shabu from the coin purse of the suspect.
They also recovered two spent shells for caliber 9mm from the area.
Uvero was tagged as a street-level peddler and previously arrested for illegal drugs.
