LUCENA CITY—Quezon has recorded 21 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the number of active ones in the province to 104 on Friday, July 21.
Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) data show that 25 of 41 towns in the province have active virus carriers.
The 25 municipalities with infected cases were Sariaya (27 cases), Tayabas City (13), Lucena City (9), Lucban (8), Candelaria (5), Tiaong (5), Atimonan (4), Quezon (4), Mauban, (3), Dolores (3), and Calauag (3).
Pagbilao, Polillo, Agdangan, Padre Burgos, Alabat, and Gumaca have two cases each, while Sampaloc, San Antonio, Catanauan, General Luna, Macalelon, San Andres, Guinayangan, and Plaridel have one each.
The health authorities did not provide information on the COVID-19 variants of the active cases.
The infected patients have been admitted to several hospitals, while some were under home quarantine.
On June 3, only Lucena, the capital of Quezon, had active COVID-19 cases, with two recorded infected residents then.
This July, Quezon has logged 235 new cases, 151 recoveries, and three deaths.
In June, the province recorded 52 COVID-19 cases; May, 14; April, 21; March, 88; and February, 772 during the height of the highly infectious Omicron variant.
The Department of Health placed Lucena and Alabat under alert level 1, the most lenient in the five-tier alert status, until July 31.
The rest of Quezon’s 39 localities remain under alert level 2.
